The Beach at Chacala
Playa Chacala is a small fishing and tourist village on the Pacific coast of Mexico, about two hours north of Puerto Vallarta. About 300 people live here. There is public transportation to the nearest town, about 5 miles away. Las Varas has basic emergency medical services, dentists, a bank and ATM, a gas station, and so on.

Chacala has a wonderful beach. Sandy, with a gentle slope. Waves for body surfing, comfortable water temparature year around. Restaurants at the edge of the sandy beach, small groceries, internet, tourist shops, volunteer opportunties and Spanish lessons are all available. Local people are friendly and welcoming. There is fishing, access to a famous surfing beach 10 minutes away via launch. And day trips to street markets, petroglyphs and a swamp ride to visit crocodiles. Chacala is located on the Pacific coast of Mexico, about two hours driving time north of Puerto Vallarta. It is easily accessible via bus, taxi, airport pick-up, or rental car.
